Statement
Along the Algarve coast, houses are built to face the sea and then, almost always, to give you a smaller and calmer sea of your own: a pool, a basin, a channel of still water at the edge of a terrace.
I visited once a month for a year, always at the lowest tide, and always from the same few positions. Most of the pictures are of very little happening, very slowly: a horizon, a white wall, the line where a pool meets the sky.
The owners were rarely there. I have kept their houses unnamed and given the pictures only the hour and the month.
